Wk6 trouble

I just cannot get past wk6r2. After trying r3 and having to walk after 5mins and then again twice briefly I thought I try r2 again. I did it first time but today I had to walk after about 8mins and then jogged again when she said 1 min to go. Arghh. I did manage the 2nd 10mins burst though, only just. I progressed so well the last weeks and felt like I’m making progress and now feel I’m stuck. It’s disheartening.

Week 6 is tough. The hardest week. My only advice is to go really really slow. It works. You will get faster. We are nearly a minute a km faster now and it's only through time. Just relax, go slow and enjoy! A good playlist helps too. I like a loud one!

Thank you. I will try that 2nd one again, really slow. I really want to do this.

Those were practice runs. Try slowing right down, and then slow down some more. You can walk for 25 minutes, so if you run at a pace barely faster than a walk (or even see if you can actually run at the same pace as a walk) then you should be fine. Speed doesn't matter, and neither does distance. Rest up, drink plenty of water, and try again - nice and relaxed and slow as a snail. Believe you can do it :-)

Thank you. I will try the 2nd one again. I don’t think I’m ready for the 25mins one If I’m struggling with the 2nd one. I’ve done it first time and just really disappointed that I’m struggling now.

You can do this. From now on its very much a mental game. Positive thoughts. I can do this... I will do this... it hurts but I'm not going to stop... I started this because... and I will graduate....

Rest up, hydrate your body an try again. Go very slow and remember to breathe. 1st 10 minutes usually are the hardest as you body gets going throughout the toxic 10 but don't stop.

Put some motivational songs together and remember.... you can do this.

Don't let today get you down too much. If nothing else, it was a workout and made you stronger.

Good luck.

Thank you. I will put a different playlist together and will try my best. I’ll repeat r2 again and try as slow as I can. It’s the breathing I’m struggling with. I’m always using my inhaler before and taking antihistamines for hay fever so should be helping. Thank you for the encouragement.

Thank you. I will rest tomorrow and drink lots of water and hopefully will manage r2 again. 😊

Hi, because you have done the 10 minute runs it is as your coach says a mental thing. You still don’t think you can but you did 20 mins in week 5 do remember you’ve got this nailed. I’m old and fat and found slow is the answer - that and something interesting to listen to. I tried songs but they made me very aware of 3 minute intervals. Instead I started with desert island discs podcast. There’s loads of them and I just pick people who I’m interested to listen to whether it’s Mickey Flanagan or Victoria Wood, I’m more interested in the programme and suddenly it’s only 60 seconds to go.

You can do this!

Yes that’s true. I was so worried about the 20mins one and then amazed that I did it. And now I’m tripping up in wk6. I know what you mean about the songs. I keep thinking oh that was only one song etc. Yes maybe I should try podcast. Thank you.
