W1R3 nailed

So I just got back from the final run of week 1! (I have completed wk 1 twice to improve my performance and stamina), I nailed it!

Pain in my knees now but so proud of myself.

Any tips would be grateful on how to manage the knee pain and to stop it from me making progress. It really hurt as I was running, is this normal?

Well done for starting this..have you checked out the post for newbies..

For your aching knees...try these.. many folk find them really helpful:)

Also, if you complete runs don't repeat them :) Move on steadily and slowly...Try to move gently and lightly... warm up really well and stretch after every run.

Never ever run through pain... aches and pains through starting this, we expect, but real pain ( and we do know the difference) is something else.

Thanks for the information, it’s really helpful. The pain is located on the inside edge of my knees and lower shin. I have taken ibuprofen now which has eased it. I have decided to leave it a few days before I run again, so I plan my next run on Saturday; hopefully I will be recovered enough to manage the run.

I did stretches and a good warm up walk before my run this morning and thought the pain would run off, it didn’t get worse but I struggled with the last two 60 second runs, just about making it.

I have to remember that I am 49 (soon to be 50) overweight and very unfit so the whole couch to 5k was never going to be easy; besides no pain, no gain!
