Week 3 Run 2

So, after taking a week off because of life/weather I completed W3R2 Friday night.

I was worried that it woukd be horrible because it had been a week, but it went pretty well. The only thing is that I got out of breath quite quickly so that was a bummer, but I did complete all of the runs without feeling too wiped out.

I do wonder - am I the only person that feels as if someone has strapped weights to my ankles the longer into the run? Each run I felt like I was "weighed down" and struggling a little to keep my legs going. I really want to do my last week run without feeling like I'm going to turn into a pancake 😜

I was supposed to do W3R3 tonight but we have a massive storm and torrential rain so I'm holding out for tomorrow.

We have had leaden legs, legs like concrete..running through treacle... all sorts. Just make sure you are taking it slowly and steadily. Try to land lightly too... and just relax.

Make sure you are doing some non impact exercise too on some of your rest days. Building up your stamina and your strength....

Take it gently and know each run is making you stronger...you are doing well :)

Thanks Oldfloss! I've been walking a few miles on off days so to keep up with some form of activity.

I will try to work on my landing because I can tell that I am landing with all of my weight.

Yes heavy legs every run but once they ache they don’t seem to get worse and I plod on! I hope they will improve when I lose some of my excess weight!

I agree! I think excess weight is a big part - I've read several things saying that the force put on our legs while running is about 5x our body weight 😬

Hydration plays a big part in this. And foam rollers can help loosing your calves off between runs. Do a little search on the forum about both and you’ll find really useful advice.

I will look into that!

I've been working on increasing hydration now that school is out. My goal is to be 90% pop free by August!
