Completed W1R3, seriously thought it was the most difficult but pushed through it. Probably never been so red in the face 🙃

My shins hurt a bit when I was running is this common?

Well done for getting the week done. I don’t know about shin pain as I haven’t suffered any. But the running dose get easier just remember to take your time. Plus the other secret is that this program is not about running 5k but running for 30 minutes

You are not a wimp! Week one is tough, I’ve made it to the end of week three now. On the shin pain, I suffered that et the start it is much easier if you have good shoes and run on grass! Tarmac just seems to shudder through the shins.

Well done on making it though week 1! I found my shins hurt a lot at first but the further I progressed, the less it hurt. I assume this was just my body getting used to the torture I was putting it through!

Thanks

Welcome & well done for completing the first week! Iannodatruffe can send you some really good links on essential reading in C25K. Has good points about warming up & stretching after. Personally I don't think that 5 mins warm up is long enough - I do five minutes first & then do the five mins on the app. Also with the cool down. I think not warming up & stretching after can result in shin pain but I am by no means an expert. Good luck - I hope you get it sorted. Keep us posted

Have you checked this post out... lots of useful advice here.

We do expect aches and pains at the start... your body wonders what is happening..take it slow and steady and try to land lightly and stretch well after each and every run:)
