Wondered what people eat or drink pre run for a boost of energy? I’ve been having a banana or apple half hour before and water. Any ‘energy’ drinks that’s are low or no sugar that work?

What to eat/drink before a run?
You don't need anything until you are running a lot further and/or if the weather is VERY hot. Just make sure you are well hydrated all the time and that will carry you through.
I wont give you my opinion about energy drinks
Water is all you need.
I suggest NOT taking a leaf from DaveB46 's book and going for the curry/beer option straight before a run.
I tried to coax him with coconut water and tofu but he snarled at me.
Apart from water you shouldn't need anything apart from what other people laughingly call "short" runs.
Lol, anyone in Scotland before a run could take "A wee dram of whiskey" otherwise just take a sip of water, before and after your run or during walking breaks, especially if the temperature is over 20c/68f. " I certainly don't advise anyone to take a kebab, curry or any takeaway before a run.
From start to finish I found running on a empty tummy was a lot easier. Towards the end of the program I would sometimes have a banana before. As for drinking I would have water before I would go. I’m now running much longer and still prefer to run on a empty tummy but will have some fruit and a water beforehand.
If you hydrate well every day and drink around 3 litres of water (some tolerate more, some less), and if you eat what your body needs (in moderation), then before the run you won't need more than some water (half a glass in my case) and a banana or a boiled egg (not strictly advising, this is simply what l do, and it works for me).
For 5k and 10, 15k l don't bother with anything else unless it's very warm as Hidden suggests.
If you go further then a more careful approach is required but leave that for now.
I can't say 'yes' or 'no' to energy drinks except that l don't like them. What's wrong with water?!
I think everyone has their own preference and it depends when you run too. I try to run first thing in the morning, so it’s a mug of tea for me. Any more than that and I put my pelvic floor muscles into challenging circumstances 😉. I
I always make sure I drink plenty of fluid the night before and that’s all I need even on my longer runs of 10km and more. I hate having a full stomach while running.
Thanks peeps just interested to know what everyone else does and if there’s anything I’m missing out on! 😁💪🏼
You can get Lucozade Sport orange in a “no added sugar” version.
I tend to eat a small banana before the longer runs.
