Hey guys

I run on porridge. 40 g dry weight, made with water, cooked 5 mins with a little honey or syrup and/or a bit of fruit. An hour to 90 mins beforehand
I run on empty (barring a couple of cups of coffee) but I generally run in the morning. On the rare afternoon run I have had breakfast (usually meusli or porridge) but won't have eaten for a good few hours before I run.
I tend to run after work (6pm ish), I run before my evening meal, so I will have eaten during the day (breakfast and dinner) but not for a few hours.
I run before breakfast usually and have a banana and half a cup of coffee. Or a piece of malt loaf, yummy! Usually an hour before I run x
What you all guys suggest for me
I prefer to run in the morning so I run on empty apart from some water before going out. There's no right or wrong, just need to find out what suits you. Hope it's going well.
If I run early in the morning before work, then other that a glass of water, it's nothing. If I'm running at a weekend then I might have something very light, perhaps some dry toast and a banana an hour before. Strong coffee, 30 to 60 minutes or so before the off, is widely accepted to be beneficial to running.
generally i run on empty , might have a couple slices of wholemeal toast with natural peanut butter on a sat before parkrun if i have time
If you've had a big meal leave it for at least 2 hours or longer before running. Dont drink for an hour before but have a 1/3 of a tumbler of water about 10mins before starting the run. If you have a snack try to leave an hour before the run.
I run on empty - even a glass of water too soon before a run and I feel a bit sick. The best thing for me is to drink enough water throughout the day so I know I'm well hydrated before I go out.
For morning runs (Saturdays) I have some porridge or a couple of slices of toast first, and then just head straight out. On weekdays I run at lunchtime and usually run before eating. I tend to have something like a banana or a cereal bar around 11ish in anticipation. On hot days I have a cold drink just before I go out. But on cold days I'm finding a cup of miso-soup sets me up well. I find I need to wait a good couple of hours after a full meal.
I run on empty but if I'm doing a long run I'll have a poached egg on toast 2 hours before and I take gels/ sweeties...
Now this all sound great
What I am planning is
For tomorrow I will be having a cup of coffee 1 hour before and half liter of water before 10 minutes of run.
Let see if this works or the
Plan B will be adding banana in it !!!
Thanks everyone for the information..
No doubt you guys are the best support to new runners like me !!!
Thanks
If you are running less than an hour you realy don't need to worry about carrying enough fuel. Or water for that matter. Obviously don't go out dehydrated or ravenous or immediately after a 7 course curry, but otherwise just normal common sense.
I think food/drink before a run is probably personal preference - you could experiment and find out what works for you. I run first thing in the morning - I usually chuck myself out the door about 5.45am before my body realises what time it is and protests. I don't eat beforehand, just drink a glass of water about 10 minutes before going out. At the moment my runs are less than an hour, but as Rignold says you may need extra fuel once you're running for longer than that.
If I drank 10 minutes before I went out I'd need the loo.
Wow so many people trying so many different things
Well today I tried half liter water before 1 hr and half liter before 10 minutes
And it worked
Thank you for sharing
I'd have some fruit or oat cakes just before my morning runs. If in the evening, I have a yogurt or fruit about half hour before the run.
I generally run in the mornings and run on empty. Some water before I go, maybe a banana before a long run (take gels on those)...
Coffee - espresso - always!
It's about what works for you and your body. If I eat too soon before I run my 'system' gets all messed up.. I do a massive refuel post long run though! Big brunch is my reward!
I'll have one baked potato and two pieces of toast with jam two hours before running, 16 oz of water 90 minutes before running and continue sipping water just before running.
