Welcome Mr Bean! As long as you are in general good health I would say yes!

Go as slow as you need to, listen to your body when it doth protest, and most of all come back and tell us how you’re getting on!

Hi and welcome Mrbean. There is a huge age spread on here and I have read that there has been an 83 yo graduate of C25K but i'm sure there will be other's along soon who have been around a long time that will be able to tell you more and offer good advice. Just wanted to welcome you to this great forum where you will be supported and encouraged all the way. :)

Yes!! I've read posts from people older than you who have really enjoyed and benefitted from this. It's about stamina, not speed, and just to give you a benchline for speed I'm 48 and when I jog my husband often walks alongside.... I'm slow! Take it gently, repeat a run if you don't complete it and carry on to the next if you so. Invest in some decent running shoes if you go beyond week 4. An administrator will be along soon with links to the essential reading. Good luck!!

Hi Mr Bean, Welcome! I came across Bobthedog an older one on this forum and he kindly called me a youngster which I really enjoyed! At 61, youngster is not a term often used to describe me! There is so much information on this forum, it is the first and only forum that I had ever belonged to and I have so appreciated it. One piece of advice that I have picked up is that C25k is a very personal journey to better health. It is not a race. Feel free to repeat a run or a week as seems right to you. I look forward to reading about your progress.

Welcome to the forum.

As you will see if you read the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... we did indeed have an 83 year old graduate last year........age is just a number and this programme is a great way to prove it.

You are in control of your pace and and progress throughout the programme and you will never be asked to run any specific pace or distance, so it really is something that just about anyone can do.

Keep us posted.

Completely :) Welcome!

Follow the link sent by IannodaTruffe ... take it steadily, listen to your body... which, by the way, will probably complain a fair bit...:)

Keep posting for terrific support and encouragement too:)

Great to have you on the forum, Mrbean, welcome. I'm sure you are doing the right thing. Take it slowly, read Iannodatruffe and Oldfloss, they're great, and remember every run is progress.

I'm 65 and had never run in my life when I started last August. Graduated in January then, after a gap, started again in March from week 1. I feel much better for it but it's not all easy. For me the mental battle is greater than the physical. At times I want to give up and do, and then feel disappointed. So I'm trying to stay positive and look at the overall movement, which is definitely forward! Each time I get out there is a gain. And I NEVER worry about speed!

The programme is very well thought out and the forum is a great source of information and, above all, moral support. Good luck to you and keep posting!

As everyone has said, it's not about pace or distance. It's about doing what you can manage and feeling absolutely chuffed with your progress. I certainly couldn't call what I did at the beginning 'running' I shufflled along , red faced, making the most weird gasping noises. . Take your time, you can do this 😊

It's one of those can I or can't I do it decisions, do the first jog as see how you are. I'm 72 and on W6, feeling 50 again, well, the first 30 seconds were tough, but the 25 minutes jog yesterday was less traumatic, good luck, you know yourself more than anyone, slow and steady.

Morning Mr Bean and a big warm welcome. Age is purely a number. Have a go, take your time, walk if need be, repeat a week. You can do this. Please keep us all posted. We are all behind you and besides you cheering you on.

Hi MrBean, I am 72 and just started C25K, tomorrow I will be doing round 6 run 2. As long as you are fit and healthy age is no barrier, I noticed that where I live there were several men in their 70's and an 80 year old running in a 10k in LESS than an hour.

Welcome to C25k Mrbean. The answer is yes so long as you are in good health or approved by your doctor. This is the most wonderful community to belong to and there is a wealth of good advice from people who know exactly what you are going through, so keep in touch with progress . 🏃‍♂️👍
