Shingles

I have shingles and I don't know if it's the virus or the medication but I'm so tired and worn out, but today is run day and I know I can make myself do it, I really don't want to end up behind

Should I just rest until I'm better? Or can I push myself to run?

I would rest. If you over do things too soon you could be out of running for even longer. X

You are probably right. I think I just needed someone to tell me! Thanks!

Rest up and look after yourself. The program is a journey, there is no need to race through it. Keep coming on here and reading posts for motivation and wait until your ready to go back out again. If you rest up you will be back out there sooner than trying to push through it. Your going to have a lifetime of runs no need to force a run when you don’t need to.

Sorry to hear this, shingles is nasty. I agree with the previous responses, you need to take care of yourself until you are better. There is no joy running whilst feeling poorly.

Rest and TLC.

shingles is nasty and the anti viral meds knock it out of you too. Embrace sitting on the sofa with coffee and digestives watching a few good movies. You will be back at it again soon, kicking ass and loving the feel of the wind in your hair as you run away those kilometres.

Shingles is nasty Painful. Its better to get rest and see doc soon to get treatment. Shingles can leave permanent nerve pain. From my own experience, avoiding any food has arginine like chocolate, any beans, bread, dairy. Wish you all the best.

Thanks guys, for all your support! I took a week off and rested and took the medicine and started back today and it was great!

I was nervous about running five m minute intervals and worried the break would make it harder, but actually it was easier!

I'm so glad I followed your advice and now I'm back and happily running in the sunshine =]

Oh no. Shingles is horrible. I would definitely rest up but you know how you feel. I had it a few years ago - before this programme & it's a two week incubation before the rash comes out so I didn't know I had it. I was going to the gym at the time & couldn't understand why I felt so ill & weak. I kept nearly passing out at the gym. I actually started to feel better when the rash came out. Hope you get better soon.
