It was very grey this morning at 6.15am when I set out (sounds like a saga, doesn't it? "Grey was the dawn and tired were my legs when I set forth on my quest to complete run 1 of week 8...") and I was definitely feeling the effects of too many early mornings either running or on conference calls with Australia, so I was pretty low-energy. I thought it would be cold so I put on my running shell (get me, talking about shells like I'm a *real* runner) - big mistake, as by the midway point I was overheating like crazy and couldn't work out what to do with the shell if I took it off, so I just left it on.
The actual running was the least of my problems today. I was obsessing about work and found myself wishing the run away as I knew I had to get into the office for an early meeting. It's annoying, as usually running clears my head and sets me up for the rest of the day. I also didn't do brilliantly on my choice of route - it somehow seemed to have at least 50% more ups than downs, which is logically impossible...
28 minutes isn't that much longer than 25 minutes, but in the last five minutes it felt like I was waiting an age for Sarah to tell me I had 60 seconds left to go... which was explained when suddenly the run finished! I guess Sarah thinks I no longer need the boost of knowing I've only got a minute to go. More fool her.
Anyway, week 8 run 1 in the bag. Keeping my fingers crossed for a better experience with run 2!
