Please all give me some motivation to start the Couch to 5k! I work long days so it's easy to give myself an excuse when I eventually get home...
Motivation to start!: Please all give me some... - Couch to 5K
Motivation to start!
You have come to the right place! We can all find reasons, lots of reasons, not to start but, once you do you won’t regret it. I promise.
You have lots of encouragement and support on here and don’t forget, we have all been there, wondering if we should give this a go , but we did. And I for one don’t regret it.
Go on, get off the couch and give it a whirl. What have you got to lose?
Come on in! We’re with you all the way 👍💪
We are indeed here with you all the way, I never knew what 5.45am was before C25K but I am a very busy bod too and found it was the best time for me. Its best to plan where you can fit some time in for you 3 X a week and try and stick to it where possible. Good Luck
Just over 7 weeks ago I had a stroke and nearly died, part of the reason I didn’t die is because I am now pretty fit. I started C25K almost a year before the stroke and am back running already albeit slower and planning a half marathon in the new year... that’s some pretty good motivation there 👍😄
The hardest thing is flicking the switch in your brain to commit to 3 runs a week. The second hardest thing is putting the first run in your headphones and taking the first step.
After that it’s all downhill! The program and the runs become addictive. The feeling of achievement and knowledge you are doing something positive for your body and your life is amazing!
I’ve taken it up after 10 years of inactivity and am now in week 5 and wish I’d done it sooner!
The support on here is incredible and you’ll get help all the way celebrating your success and guiding you through the difficulties.
Just give it a go! You’ve got nothing to lose and so, so much to gain! Good luck! 😀😀😀
A good reason to start is the feeling of being ten years younger! I have never been fit so it was easy to be fitter than ever I had been in the past. Go for it Helen you won't regret it.
Just go for it Helen. It’s only 40minutes 3 times a week. I started aged 52 after several health challenges and now I’m as fit as a flea (or so my hubby tells me).
The hardest run is the first one but you can definitely do this.
Go for it girl!!!
Dear Helen, the hardest bit is setting out for the first run. I did mine in the dark! After that it makes you feel so good you’ll soon be addicted. This forum is fab for support, you can drop in whenever you like and we’ll all be here cheering you on. I’ve reached W7R1 and am flabbergasted that at age 53 3/4 I can run for 25 minutes. Give it a go, you won’t regret it.
You posted this... so the motivation is already there... we will be with you all the way!

Slow and steady and keep posting!
" All you need is right there...inside you" .
Find a way to do it early. I changed my walk to work to a session three times weekly so it doesn’t use any more of my time, apart from a quick wash and changing at work. It will give you more energy to help you continue. I’m only in week three and can feel the benefits already.
Why not run in the morning?
I thought that was almost impossible, but found myself getting up at 5:30 am to run and was set up for the day, when I did C25K, five years ago.
Becoming a runner and developing my fitness held me on good stead a year ago, when I was diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer. While I am still under treatment, all the clinicians have agreed that my fitness has been largely responsible for the fact that I have had very few side effects and I have continued running through my treatment and it gives me a great focus for the future.
None of this was on my mind when I started C25K, but it is just another reason to give yourself the best possible chance to live a happy and healthy life.
