Week 1 is going ok so far. To give me a goal I have registered for my local parkrun. Anybody else tried this?

Yes. My main motivation for doing all this is to do my local park run at least once a month. I'm registered but haven't gone yet. I know some people do the C25k runs at a park run but my aim is to run the whole thing and then stay fit enough to keep doing it. I am sure once I have made a few Park run friends that will keep me motivated.

Great idea. Definitely helps a lot. I did 5 Parkruns during the programme. Without this Forum and Parkrun I would not have been motivated enough to finish.

I would do run 1 and 2 of each week on a Monday and Wednesday and then celebrate run 3 with a Parkrun on a Saturday morning.

When doing the Parkruns stick to the programme. Each week you will get a time and be amazed as you see your PB time fall. It's a great social event. I love it.

I would wait maybe until the length of running periods gets a bit longer than the walking periods before trying. But it is a great idea to gave one of your three runs a week in the company of (many) others - it is very motivating. But remember to stick to the programme. If you finish up just halfway round the 5K, walk the rest of the way to the end.

Yes I have. Parkruns are great, very informal and friendly. A great way to stay motivated and to gauge your progress.

Oh yes, parkrun features mucho mucho on this forum. Once you get to the longer runs its a good idea to do a parkrun, but always stick with the programme and walk the rest!
