OK, completed week 4 and was ready to start week 5 but just can't get motivated. I keep finding excuses not to go. My knee hurts, the weathers bad ....blah blah blah. I need someone to give me a kick up the bum! I haven't anyone to run with so its easy to dip out. Help!!!
Motivation needed: OK, completed week 4 and was... - Couch to 5K
Motivation needed
Well, I was close to that last week. I've just done Wk5 run3 - check out my last few posts. Don't ignore any injury, I waited till my sore hip felt better and then just picked up where I left off. We're building muscle memory just the way musicians do - you'll be fine!
I don't know where you live but in some parts of England it would of been very hard to keep motivation up with the changeable weather. The fact your still coming here and posting is motivation too. I am sure with a little kick up the bum you will get back to it and don't forget to come and tell us all about it.
Can you virtual buddy up with someone on here? I would but you're way ahead of me! See, you are getting it done!
Get out there and get it done! Just do it! Don't even think about not going out!
Once you're out there, you'll be fine, and when you get home having successfully completed the session, you'll be really chuffed with yourself and so glad you didn't put it off
A bit of rain never hurt anyone. It will refresh you and keep you cool.
Come on! You can do this
A trick that often works is to tell yourself "Just make a start". That means to at least notionally leave yourself the option of bailing out at any point, but you're putting yourself under a lot more psychological pressure than the permissive "Just make a start" seems to claim to do.
Now you make your start. Put on your kit, and maybe have a look at the door. Maybe sit in a couch while you do that. And now you can tell yourself, "Just make a start" again if you like. Go out the door, have a look around outside, maybe go for a stroll to help you think whether your legs feel like running.
Now you're nearly there. One more "Just make a start" should be enough to get you going, and help you follow through. In the rare cases where that doesn't work, maybe make a deal with yourself that you now at least have to compensate a bit by going on a really long walk.
Note: This is a bad idea if the knee is hurting "in the bone" (by which I probably actually mean ligaments and stuff). If your knee stays sore, you might need to go and get it checked out before it knocks you out for longer than a temporary unmotivated phase.
Thanks folks. Just having a bit of gremlin trouble! I WILL do this!! 😤
Update....I've done it! W5r1 completed. Thanks to everyone for the much needed shove. I couldn't (and probably wouldn't) have done it without you 😀 Gremlins beaten
