My wife and I are on week 2 run 1 and find it hard to fit it in. We’re never sure when best to do it. Before work at 7 am would be literally straight out of bed and out then after work at 4pm to tired to do it.. I believe you can pace yourself with food and drink during the day to help you feel fresher but know how.. Anyone any ideas?
Thanks

Just get up earlier, run and go to bed earlier, to get the sleep in .. the early mornings are a blessing and a joy When you are in the routine they really do give you a zing for the day
Have you read the C25K newbie post.. loads of advice there about eating etc...
Me too, up early, a glass of water, then out. You will feel really good all day, the runs kind of invigorate you - probably the endorphin response, though this is disputed now, but hey who cares!
I couldn’t do before work. I go after, but have to have a nap first sometimes but I force myself to go out on two evenings. The other run is in the ParkRun on Saturday morning. Although I can run it all now, I walked my first and then just did the last weekly session inside the ParkRun and walked the rest to the end. I recommend them. Great fun, support and a time to beat each week.
I did wk7 r1 at 03:30 last week, it certainly was a lot cooler. ☃️ I work nights though and only did it to see what it was like running at the end of my day. I’m fortunate that I can get up about 11, run around 13:00 and still have plenty of time to chill before work at 17:00. I can see how it must be difficult to fit in round normal working lives though.
I've tried both before and after work. Get home at 6.30pm so find mornings easier, in the park at 6.30am then off to catch train. Once you get into a regular routine you'll be fine.
HI I'm on the same run and was Dreading it. I have run at different times at the moment. I find I need a bit of mental getting ready space and I seem to really enjoy carving out the time, early evening (when the heat has gone). I can mull over the day, and it's so nice to be out running in the evening when the last few years have been in after five ish (kids!). X be good to find out whens best for you both. Enjoy!
I was going to add that sometimes I take running gear to work and run somewhere between work and home- gives me a change of route. I find an after work run a great way to relax and leave all busyness of the working day behind. On a non- work day I like running in the morning- just not so early. 😄
Early mornings I find are best for me. Just a case of moving your body clock an hour earlier. Bed at 9-10pm. Up at 4.30, running before 5 and home before 5.30am.
Best bit is that there is absolutely no one around, quiet and beautiful dawn to admire. When you get home get a bit of a buzz about getting the jogging done whilst everyone else is still asleep and you feel great, awake and ready for the day with a bit of time still left to tidy up and get sorted for work.
I have to start work at 7am so I have been an early bird for some time now. Totally understand if mornings aren’t for all. Took me a while to get used to it when I started just getting up early for work.
For so many reasons mornings would not work for us. Mostly I'm not a morning person! I have changed my lunch on run days to a protein meal replacement milkshake and have a few well set out snacks. Then I run before my evening meal. Works well for me. Yes, sometimes I'm tired too but once I get going it's fine and I end up with boundless energy afterwards. You might need to experiment with a few routines before discovering what works for both of you. Good luck!
