Back after injury

Hi everyone. I put my back out a few weeks ago and haven’t been able to do any exercise of any sort. Went back to the gymon Tuesday and tried a run on the treadmill and literally was blowing after a couple of minutes! 😣 My breathing was all over the place and I lasted 6 minutes before needing to stop. Good news is that my back didn’t hurt at all, but I need to get my fitness back up! Any ideas, or is it a case of slow and steady again until it returns?
