Weight Loss

Whilst my main aim is to improve my health and fitness through using the Couch to 5K app, I just wondered if anyone had achieved weight loss through using the app?

yes and no. Initially I lost around a stone and a half over 3 months, but then the weight stabilized but I got faster and faster. I have changed shape losing my TV tray belly and I've also stopped snoring. Mrs Seaspaniel is a happy bunny.

That’s ace :) like I said my main aim is just to get fit and healthy but if a bit of gradual weight loss goes along with that I’d be dead chuffed! Thanks x

So far not really. But then I haven't been restricting calories while doing it (felt I had enough to deal with!). That is the plan eventually though.

Another fan of SW! I think it’s a great programme too, you eat healithy but still have nice foods. It’s a good combo, that and running, for me anyway.

As long as you are in calorie deficit you will lose weight. If you go over to the Weight Loss forum there is loads of advice there.

No need for paid groups

Have made some big changes to my diet so hopefully that will help. A healthy diet and lifestyle that involves fresh whole foods is what I want to concentrate on, and once I’ve got that underway I’ll be looking more into my calorie intake. Thanks for the advice, I’ll definitrly that that on board x

Weight loss is not just about calories! Bodies are so hugely diverse :) I would concentrate on a balanced whole food diet and enjoying your meals!

Exactly what I’m aiming for at this point :) thanks

Actually weight loss is entirely about calories. Living healthily is about eating a balanced diet of whole foods, certainly, but calories are calories. If you are in a 500 calorie deficit eating nothing but cheeseburgers and pop tarts you will lose weight just as if you were in a 500 calorie deficit eating nothing but broccoli.

Of course neither of these are advisable and you would be suffering a fair amount of gastrointestinal distress on either diet but you would lose an equal amount of weight. Similarly it does not matter if you eat nothing but spinach and açai berry smoothies prepared by the Dalai Lama in person, if you are in caloric surplus , you will gain weight. bodies are diverse but the laws of thermodynamics are a constant.

Lost half a stone since starting c25k a month ago, and very happy about that. But am doing c25k alongside a lot of other activity, so “rest days” for me are still pretty active :)

Yes! Along with a better diet.....I mean it could just be eating more healthily but, I haven't massively changed my diet, I just took up running! So far I'm down about 7lbs since starting couch to 5k.

I lost 2 stone before I started C25K! I joined SW with my son not intending to actually join myself( my son has Autism and was struggling with a food obsession and it was his idea!)

Anyway I did join as thought it would help him if we did it together! I was always someone who said I’d never pay to get weighed!!

Six months later I got to my target weight by just altering my diet a little and getting more active by walking and one day I decided I’d like to try running!

SW definitely gave me that kick start and motivated me.

At target I don’t have to pay anymore but still go regularly with my son! He loves the social side of it and as long as he’s happy we’ll continue to go!

Running has definitely helped with all aspects of my life! I’ve found my weight staying pretty much the same but I’m noticeably much trimmer and fitter!

Can’t get my son interested in running though!!! 😂

I park run at Chippenham. Scroll down on the link to the picture and caption of Cameron parkrun.org.uk/chippenham/n... His time was 22m 37s.

My son is so anti sport!! He’s very rigid in his thinking and is currently obsessed with the musical Wicked!! However his obsessions do change so you never know!!! 😀
