W5R3 nerves

I did W5R2 this morning and it was fine. Hard work but good. I cannot tell you how nervous I am about the 20 min run in R3 though! I’ve not repeated any yet but I’m a total running beginning and I’m really tempted to do R2 a couple more times before attempting R3. 20 mins seems like a lifetime. I’m torn between trusting the programme and just going for it and risking failing or putting it off until R2 feels easier. Any advice?!

I'm in exactly the same boat as you. Literally just done run 2 of week 5. I'm actually in lake garda and have run twice since I've been here and am going to give run 3 a go . It must be fine to give it a go or they wouldn't suggest you give it a go. Good luck and let me know whether you do it. I'm very slow but can definitely feel my stamina improving .

Couldn’t think of a nicer place to smash w5r3! Go for it! Slow and steady is the way to go. Good luck!

Go for it! Trust the plan. Take a little speed off in the first 10 minutes and reserve your energy for the last five. If you’ve done r1&r2 you are totally capable. It’s all in the mind this one and when you smash it you’ll feel amazing. Good luck!

Thank you! It’s definitely a mental thing at this stage. I’ve spent so many years saying I’m not a runner. It’s so hard to imagine running 20 mins straight. Maybe I should just bite the bullet and go for it! If I fail, I guess I can just retry.

No failure. Just a practice run. I think you’ll surprise yourself though. W6 beckons!

go for it! you ARE ready! Get something interesting on your headphones to take your mind off running, relax, slow & steady and you'll be done!!

#you can do it

I did it yesterday- still on a high & honestly never ever have I run for that long in my life. You'll smash it- don't be nervous- everything you have done so far on this programme has prepared you for this. Don't overthink it - take it nice & slow. Good luck & keep us posted.

Give it a go! What's there to lose in trying? If you end up taking a break, take one and then run again afterward, and try again next time. :) You might really surprise yourself!

I’ve just completed W5R3 after a week off for holiday and although very apprehensive, I managed it absolutely fine. I downloaded a podcast rather than listening to music and that definitely helped to take my mind off the running. Good luck, you can do it!

I felt the same when I got there, but decided to trust the programme. It really does work and if you have done the previous run without stopping then go for it! You will feel great when you’ve done it. 🏃‍♀️👍😎

I felt exactly the same but thought just start and see how long I can go for. No pressure

When I heard the 15 min mark thought I can’t give up now and crawled on to the end. Not fast or elegant but I made it and you will too.

Thanks everyone! It’s lovely to have such an encouraging network on here! Sounds like general consensus is to just go for it, so I will!!! I’ll let you know how I get on on Wednesday!

How did you get on? I did it this morning. The first 5 mins was hard but it was actually fine. Dead proud of myself but the scenery being in lake garda has helped. Keep going I never thought I'd do it today but I have

I did it!! It was hard but I managed it. I’m so proud of myself too! In a warm glow today!! I’ve literally never run that much at once in my life. I’m bowled over by how this programme has made this possible for me! Well done us!

I’ve also just completed WK5 run2 and will be doing the 20 mins Thursday evening, feeling the fear just like you but I think it’s totally a mind thing, I did feel good running tonight so maybe it’s just the thought of not having a break that’s scaring us?

Am starting to believe in the programme more and more as I surprise myself at completing the runs when I think I can’t.

Let’s not over think it lets just tell ourselves we can and give it all we’ve got!💪🏼 good luck, let us know how it goes 😃
