Well it depends who gets up on a Saturday morning, but some may take more like an hour........... check the results page for your venue.

We recommend that you use the experience to follow your current C25K intervals........it is very easy to get carried away.

You can register your club as NHS C25K when you sign up for parkrun.

Have great time.

There will be people of all speedsand experience. Dogs, kids and Prams included. You will never be last because the tail runner is responsible for that. So you can give it a try. It’s my target after graduation but many do it before. Enjoy!

We did our first ParkRun when we started C25K. I must admit to mostly walking, which I do a lot of. But walking very fast got me 40:49 and my good lady 45:09. I actually run slower than I walk as my last estimated 5K (on Strava) was just a tad over 42:00.

We were by no means the last to finish, the last (apart from the tail runner was just over the hour. But don't let it bother you. You will have people cheering you in. Seasoned runners were clapping us as we ran round and at the finish, I got some high fives!

I have to get better though, it is a little embarrassing when my eight year old Grandson regularly does 30 minutes and is a 35 minute pace runner! He is my inspiration...

Did my second parkrun this weekend. On both occasions I came 4th from last out of 700+ runners (so actually 3rd from last as last is the volunteer tail runner). Felt like crying the first time a fortnight ago as all the real runners were streaming past me on their way back as I had barely started - but then felt great at having done it with a time under 50min which was my aim. In fact the adjusted time for a late start has given me a personal best of 44min. Think it will take me a long time to surpass that as I made it 48min.

I had read so many posts saying that lots of people walk etc. Not true in Cardiff! They all seemed young, slim and superfit. But on my second run this week, I did actually pass the 2 who finished behind me and I could see people ahead of me. And more importantly, I did it.

I really hope the lady who came last (it was her first time) isn't too dispirited and does it again too.

Coming in right at the back does bring back unpleasant memories from school games classes - but now I am doing it for me. I believe I was 34th in my age category - which sounds better 764th out of 769!

Just go for it and remember that you are not there to compete - it is just for you.

I did my first park run last weekend and there are super speedy types and some old slow plodders like me. It was fun and it did make me think that once again I was plugged into the running community. Go and see if you enjoy it. If you don’t - well never mind . I think you will though , as you will see loads of people all enjoying themselves and it makes all the hard weeks getting to the point of running 30+ minutes worth while.
