How things change

I remember when I first attempted C25K (unsuccessfully) a couple of years ago, I constantly worried about the embarassment of people seeing me run. Now, I like to think that someone might see me running (nearly 60 and overweight) and think "if she can do it, maybe I could too". I am not embarassed any more, I am proud to be a runner !

PamJ58. I’ve just started C25K - on my second week. I’m 58 v soon and overweight and with Parkinson’s so I do a fast shuffle rather than run. But I too think what the hell. And I agree. Seeing someone in a similar situation to yourself doing exercise gives you encouragement that it’s not impossible for yourself.

Each one of us, when we are seen out running, is adding to a very slow and gently shifting of the social norms, towards a situation where it will be more "normal" to run than to not run.

Keep running, keep smiling.
