WK6R2 done! Right heel sore

So we did WK6 R2 yesterday evening, I was a bit tired from walking to and from work, but quite enjoyed it, although the stopping in the middle was tough. Today though, my right heel is sore!!, 1st time I've had anything like this, but next run not till Friday morning, so hopefully it will feel better by then. If not, do I wait till it does?

Any tips gratefully accepted x

Happy running all πŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Hope your heel is ok. Every twinge or ache panics me now! I've got bunions and my feet often hurt. Running does not seem to make them worse.

Well done for run 2. On we go to run 3...!

Thanks, I am a bit gutted and convincing myself it will stop me, which is my worst fear, like you!! Good luck for run 3 πŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈ

First thing is have you had Gait Analysis? Then, have you got decent running shoes? We found that by getting the correct shoes the troubles all but went away. We do still get aches and pains, but we are old (67 & 64) and have only just started running. It may be expensive at first, but once done it is unusual, but not unheard of for gait to change. So you can then buy the shoes online to save some cash. We also had moulded insoles as well.

But maybe you should try landing further forward on your foot. You seem to land heavier on your right foot and directly on your heel. Try to modify that. Keep on keeping on and good luck. :-)

Hi Rumour

I haven't had gait analysis done but I do have good running shoes. I was thinking I should get it done and if necessary will get some new ones. It does feel better today, so I will try the Friday run and see how it goes, but seriously think about how I run and if I need different shoes, thanks for the advice, much appreciated.

I ran at w9w2&3 noticing back of heel felt a bit sore, 2 weeks later of no running I have now booked a physio as it seems to be getting worse - I had had a gait analysis and new shoes as well!! but I had changed my route as there was a Huge muddy puddle difficult to get around and my new route went uphill slightly so think I was landing on heel - so as Rumour said try notice where your foot lands...

If it’s under the heel ie back of the sole someone mentioned it could be plantar fasciitis (don’t think mine is but I will see ...)

Hi

It's not under the heel, but seems to be right at the back but does seem less sore today. Next run is Friday so will see how that goes. Seriously thinking of the gait analysis but I do have good shoes. Thanks for the info and I hope yours gets sorted soon πŸ™‚
