Fingers crossed - back on the road again after achilles injuries

I started running 18 months ago and at the age of 65 when I discovered C25K. I’ve now graduated “three”times as I’ve had to keeping restarting the program owing to achilles problems. At the end of April, I graduated again but started having achilles problems soon after and I could only walk the parkrun and finished last ! Thoughts of giving up were in my mind especially when I was told that I needed an operation to repair a small abdominal hernia. A friend told me to see a podiatrist and he advised me to buy some neutral running shoes and after analysing my posture, “running style” etc, he custom made some insoles for me. Wow, don’t know whether it was the shoes, insoles, warmer weather or an act of God but in the last five days, I’ve managed to run for 30 minutes three times without problems and its great to be back on the road again. So this worked for me and if you’re having similar injury problems, it might work for you as well. Don’t give up !

I am off running with an injury too, pulled thigh muscle ☹️.

Cant wait toget back running again , but think it will be at least a month .

Physio says i can walk brisklly a little bit , then slow down . A bit like couch to 5 K but slow .

Great to hear you are on the road to recovery . Onward and upward 👍👍

Thanks and I suppose managing our injuries is part of being an "elite" athlete ! Good luck with your recovery.
