For anyone out there tempted by this app or looking for encouragement I am 56 and have always been active but suffering with lower back pain have never taken up running - Until now! I have just completed Week 6 run 2, and apart from a couple of reruns in the early stages I feel amazed having got this far. The coaching is really beneficial, follow it and you will succeed in the end. And as for the back ache, it’s not returned yet, however on the days I’m not running I do gently stretching exercises like Pilates that help.
Never run in my life : For anyone out there... - Couch to 5K
Never run in my life
Very well done, you are doing great.
I notice this your first post.Hope you found all the info , FAQ Posts etc, and info that you need.
Pleased your back ache has disappeared.👏👏
Just a thought about lower back ache and avoidance ,is your running posture upright , running tall, and not leaning forward and your head up and chin back, shoulders down and relaxed, engage your core, arms swing in forward motion , not across the body, etc, sometimes it can be the simplest of things that triggers discomfort.🤔
Do not wish to pry, stretching after you runs important also, essential and warm up dynamic stretching also.🤔
You are doing great and can add stuff in your own good time.
Keep enjoying it.🌟👏👏
Thanks Tbae I will take heed of your comments on my next run. I actually feel better with the back since running.
That is Laura’s podcast running form tips and Michael Johnson’s and of course the programme tips from NHS One You/HealthUnlocked C25k programme.👍👏👏
You mentioned Pilates and I mention Yoga and I have done neither, but Vanda Scaravelli Technique I believe has helped people over the years with back problems.
But you are good and keep it that way and enjoy your journey.
Keep smiling.
That is great, huge well done! 😀This running lark brings so many benefits- I only discovered this at 58 - very glad I did.😃
