I had a change of scenery today, for W8R2 (week EIGHT! Still can’t believe it!) and ran along the esplanada at San Juan Playa. The first time I’ve done a whole run in a straight line, and on the flat! was definitely a different experience. I thought it might be easier, not having to avoid goats and with no uphill bits, but I’m not sure that it was. And because I’d decided I wanted to know how far I could run, I didn’t turn around half way (in my head it made sense....) so I had a bloody long warm down walk....
So - I ran for 4.7km, achieved no personal bests, got overtaken by a lot of other runners, had to wait for a lift back at the end of it - I think I’ll stick to the goats and hills from now on!

Wish my run (wk7r2) was like that. Had to jump puddles and avoid slipping on muddy patches. You'll be doing 5k by graduation 😀💪🏼🏃🏅
Nicely done, sometimes the flat lulls you into a false sense of security. I run in Italy and last week tried the ‘lungomare’ run. It was flat, but absolutely no shade, whereas the hills give me trees. I’ve decided I prefer the hills too.
Well done you, graduation won’t be far away at all
I was in Spain for six weeks last year, a little town off the beaten track with exactly that type of esplanade. Loads of runners too, the local folk love to run regardless how hot it is!
Be mindful though that this surface is very unforgivingly hard, which will take its toll on your knees etc. I always used the tarmac cycle path next to the esplanada instead.
