Hilarious antics to keep running secret!

Keeping my C25K secret from my fiancé and family until I can nonchalantly surprise them by being able to run for 30 mins 🤞. Yesterday, things did not go according to plan, as dear fiancé left at 11am then came back at 2pm - with my own schedule, this meant I had no option but to run in the worst weather of the day (lashing wind and rain and freezing cold!).

Picture me rushing back to the house, soaking wet and madly stripping off gear and hiding all tell-tale signs of having run (quite a lot to do and he is very observant!) and getting back into same clothes as before, just as he arrived back - to find me apparently calmly drinking a cup of coffee....

:D It took me a while to tell Mr Rainbow when I first started - he’s always been sporty and active, and I’ve... not! But when I did fess up he was absolutely wonderful and supportive :)

Thank you - I know S will be supportive - I do more sport than him tho he used to play rugby and football and is reasonably fit - but I sort of felt I wanted to surprise him. Also I didn't want anyone to ask about progress, in case I had a bad run or didn't go - not that he or family would be checking up on me, but still... I like that this is just me, on my own (with this fab forum of fellow would-be runners).

It is a bit like when I needed to lose some weight many years ago, I didn't talk about it with friends or family because I knew if anyone said "Should you be eating that? I thought you were on a diet?", if would make me cross and I'd shovel in a load of chocolate just to show them who was boss!

I try never to comment on what people are eating, as it is really quite a private thing. Maybe I sound crazy!

Brilliant! Is this what you call situational comedy in a film? I can picture the scene. Well done for being so quick (and the run in terrible weather ;-). I'm looking forward to the next episode!

Thank you, it was a mad dash, and my heart was pounding like I was doing something wrong while checking out the window to see if he was arriving!

:-) So funny! And amazing because I wouldn't be able to hide my running: my face remains dark tomato red even a few hours after a run...

So far no red face, but still only on W4 so could be a problem in the future, especially when (if??) the weather gets warmer ☀️🤗

Absolutely! Most of the time it is no problem and I don't run at weekends.

Ha ha so funny. I could never keep my running a secret from husband the dead giveaway would be my beetroot red face and sticky hair. Keep it up🤫

Same here Lexi!! LOL - my partner would be taking me to the emergency room if I didn't admit to having exercised.

Thank you - luckily it was so bl**dy cold, there was no chance of a red, hot sticky face! And I had cooled down on the walk.

Sounds like a Brian Rix farce. ( prob before your time?). He’ll be looking for somebody hiding in the wardrobe next! 😳😁

Yes a bit - the name is familiar though. Did a quick bit of research - he was a Hull man, and I have some links there, interesting - thank you!

Yes you have to be careful with secrets as nearest and dearest can suspect and then imagine all sorts!

Brilliant! Keep up the intrigue and the miles! I’m sure lots of us will love to hear how you get on. Well done for braving the elements too! 😁🙌

Thank you - normally fairly easy to sneak in a run but lately both dear daughter and fiancé seem to be home at odd times during the week, which plays havoc with my schedule! 🤔😄
