Painful knee

I have just done W2R1. After W1R2 I had a painful knee. I hoped it would go before my next run. It hadn't gone completely but I decided to run anyway as I really don't want to give up. I gave it 2 rest days inbetween ending W1and starting W2. I elevated my knee and put ice packs on it. It didn't feel too bad this morning but is hurting again after my run. I don't want to have more rest days in between as the reason I am doing this is because I am doing the Cancer Research Race for Life in June in a team from work and I won't have completed the 9 weeks unless I keep to the schedule. Does anyone have any answers as to why my knee hurts every time I run and what can I do to prevent it? Thanks

Well, the first thing would be, did you do stretches before and after? Next what are you wearing on your feet? Next did you push too hard? Saying all that Ive just done my knee in today too and I should have listened to my body this morning shouting at me have an extra rest day!

I do stretches and I wear good trainers although I am in the process of looking for some new ones as I expect I will need someone to check my gait. That could be the problem.

Mine did and l didn't rest up, l carried on. Then the knee ballooned and l couldn't run for months. It took a physio, an osteopath and a MasterCard to fix it back on.

Why? I had inadequate shoes, no insoles, and l didn't do gait analysis. Basically, l did it all comically wrong. Long story that l could have easily avoided if l had listened to this forum more.

Sounds a long a painful story mr run. I’m gonna take 3 rest days, or maybe 4? Depending on how it feels. It’s okay now at the moment ...
