Frustrated!!!!

I started W2 R1 Monday went ok then woke up Tuesday with swollen knees that were hot and a swollen ankle.

I went to the sport shop and had my gait analysed, brought the trainers that they recommended.

I haven't rum since Monday, so went for a 2 mile walk last night and woke up and my knees felt ok so I decided to run this afternoon. Got to the second 90 second run and had to stop, limped home as both knees were hurting.

I'm so peed off, I don't want to stop running but clearly I'm going to have to stop for at least a week to let them heal and I work in retail so I'm standing up all day.

I'm putting cold patches on my knees, will knee supports help me when I start running again??

How do knee supports work?

I brought one for my ankle and that's ok after running today but not my knees.

Sorry to rant on but I was so enjoying doing this and it just seems so unfair that after 1 week my knees have given up on me.

Do you think it would help if I just walked for a week to get excerise and strengthen things or just completely do nothing.

😭😭

You will get over this.

There are excellent knee strengthening exercises here nhs.uk/Livewell/c25k/Pages/...

When you start back just keep it slow, make sure that you are not overstriding, by keeping footfall under your body, not out in front, avoid heelstriking and make sure you land as lightly case possible. Running on grass also reduces impact.

It is a rite of passage, so learn as much as you can about your body and it will serve you well in the future.
