Sorry I just had to do this. This grandma just bought herself new shoes. Rewarded myself getting to end of week 3. My goodness how on earth have I done the first 3 weeks in 10 year old Velcro things!

Ooh gorgeous colour! I love them. Have fun πππ
Oooh! They look gorgeous! There'll be no stopping you once you don these lovelies. Happy running! x πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπ
Oh my word when I tried them on it felt like getting into a nice comfy bed lol x
Oooh great colour. π
First pair of running shoes feels a bit like having instant professional feet!π
- I know itβs silly but there is something about putting on my running shoes that makes me feel like a more athletic snail! π
I am so excited to have my first proper grown up shoes!
Love the colour. You will run really well in these I'm sure. Wish I could find some battery powered ones though!
Ooh lovely new runners... they look super!
Happy running in themπx
Oooo nice π I treated myself to a pair of asics ready to start running Wk3...wow, what a difference it made π
Enjoy running in your new trainers ππΌββοΈ
I was dreading going into our local independent sport shop asking for running shoes, still concerned people may judge me. However a wonderful lady the same age as me ..who runs sorted me out. It actually was a rewarding experience and I could already understand the running languageπ
A young guy served me in my local sports shop and I was so pleased that he was incredibly helpful. Like you mentioned, I thought he wouldnβt take me seriously π but instead he took time to find out about my running, did a gait analysis (slightly embarrassed doing squats in front of the poor lad π³) but I came away with a really comfortable pair of running shoes.
Any friends that have since mentioned getting some new running shoes Iβve pointed them in the direction of the shop I went to!
Oooo they are lush! π canβt believe how excited I get looking at new running shoes now! π I got my first βproperβ pair around week 5 and they are heaven to run in, they made such a difference it was amazing! Enjoy π x
Lovely!! π gotta ditch the "oldlady" now, those are not old lady's shoes!!! ππ
Lol π no Iβm not running in my tweed twin set and matching shoes anymore π I promise if I graduate Iβm going to give myself a graduation present and drop the old! I will need a new name
How about FabFarmerRuns ? π
Im not sure I'm Fab! but I will feel fab when I get through this
Great suggestion JoJo! She definitely needs to drop the old lady handle.
How are things going with you on the IC? Did you manage the return to work OK - I know you were worried as it sounds like the job is pretty physical. Hopefully you'll mend quickly. xx π€ππ
I can't lie. It's tough. π I can only manage a few days a week, not back to normal. Doing Mon/Thurs/Sun this week and Tues/Fri next. Hoping back to normal after that. I'm doing the "hurt foot" workouts I found 3 or 4 times a week still trying to stay fit, gonna get me some great abs! ππ trying to stay positive but falling into the pity pit occasionally π I've got both halfway point and 6 week dates in my calender. I've got an extra long massage session next Weds as compensating is really hurting. Trying hard not to limp to stop that taking such a toll. But I'm still here, can't wait to get back out there ππββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπ€
Urggh. Sounds tough. I have glum days even when there doesn't seem like any reason, so I can imagine that it must be so hard not to get depressed when the injury is affecting your working and running life. It must seem like forever whilst you're on the IC, but hopefully you'll be back out there in the not too distant future. Hope you're getting support from friends and family. Keep posting. xx π€π€
My friends are looking out for me and my fella is super proud of the fact I'm not just sitting feeling sorry for myself. He didn't want me to go back to work either but I'm sure he'll be telling his workmates how I'm "hard core" ππ€£
I'll bounce back better than ever. My neighbour was telling me how her calf muscle once detached from the bone!π² she couldn't even put weight on her leg for 3+ months... kinda makes my little 6wks pale π€£
im so sorry to hear this but all the time you are so positive cheering us on ..hope you are properly up and about soon ..thinking of you x
ooooo good for you haha. Next treat at 6 weeks then?
Definitely ..not sure what yet, although the lady in the shop said I should get myself a boobuddy!! lol
Get a what??
sorry ladies chat here .. apparently its a velcro strap that goes over a sportsbra to make sure your double Ds are held snuggly in place!
the lady in the shop uses one and she said its been brilliant for her but tbh I haven't noticed a problem as yet in that department
Me neither - mind you, my sports bra is more like a harness than a bra, so I don't need any more support!! x
π€£ππ€£ππ€£ it's true, a good sports bra holds you upright!! π€£ππ€£ππ€£
Ooh! Lovely π
Oh my word I completed my week 3 in them ..they were wonderful π
Well done you. Week 4 to 6 is amazing - you're goingvto love them!
I love my asics. Did you have a gait analysis? I was really worried about venturing into a running shop and waited til I'd graduated which was really daft as since getting decent shoes my knee and hip niggles have cleared up completely!
I know I should have had a gait analysis done but I was desperate for a decent pair of running shoes. To have that done it would have been a 100mile round trip so I went to a little independent sport shop closer to home. They couldnβt have been more helpful. I felt like I was going to the dentist before hand π as I thought they would not take me seriously. I could not have been more wrong, the lady who served me was a similar age to me and a runner. She sorted me out with the asics after trying 100s of pairs and I am so happy with them
Beautiful! Mine are raspberry red! πππ
So gorgeous. Mine arrived by post today but they were a teensy bit too small so I had to send them back for a half size bigger. Hopefully next week π theyβre not as pretty as yours though π
Well donβt forget to post your pic, we have to see them it seems to be the law around here π hope the size is better next time, the lady in the shop says itβs better if they are at least half a size bigger than normal
Yep. I tried half a size bigger and now have gone for a full size bigger. If these are too small, Iβll be running in wellies
π lovely!
nice shoes ^_^
Super snazzy! You'll go far in those π
The difference between my off the shelf trainers and "proper" running shoes was unbelieveable to me as a newbie. Well worth the investment to solve the niggling aches and pains.
