On week 1 did 2nd run Tuesday. Working away bored & alone in hotel yesterday, Went for a walk was out 45 mins. Today my hips are so painful. Want to complete week 1 with the 3rd run tomorrow. Any ideas to stop getting these pains in my hips?

You will feel it if you are new to exercise. Keep moving. You can have two days off between sessions of needs be. Going for a stroll is a good idea. The more walking we do the better ! πŸ™‚πŸ’ͺπŸ‘

As you keep working slowly and carefully through the sessions you will get stronger. The emphasis is on going steady

Read the program notes on the sticky to the right πŸ‘

Your body has had a bit of a shock and you are bound to get some niggles/aches when you start a new exercise regime. I often have achy 'hips' - it is actually my tight glutes - usually if I have overdone the exercise but also if I have been stuck in the car for too long. I find that foam rolling them is the best cure. I would wait and see whether this is just a passing niggle or whether you need to look into specific stretches and strengthening exercises (which many on here swear by anyway)

Hi, new runners get some aches n pains when starting out, restup for a few days see if it goes away, if it does, then start back and go very slow and steady, stretching after your runs should help as well, particularly that area..😊

I only started running because 'brisk' 'get fitter' walking was too painful, during and after. And brisk walking still disagrees with me quite badly, especially compared with running. It's possible you may be the same.

That said, plenty of merits in easing your running pace right down, getting off hard surfaces if you can (I always have worse after effects with a hard surface) and as others have said, doing some strength and flexibility work.
