Week 1 done, not easy as I used the run as a fast jog to push a bit. Onto Week 2 tomorrow and looking forward. Long way to go but been there and hopefully will get fitness back.

Good luck all x

Check this out... lots of great advice here.

Do not push at all in these first weeks or any time...just go gently following each week's runs... stamina and strength exercise on rest days will help too :)

Well done you!

Well done Mike! What's amazing is how quickly it gets easier, as long as you take it slow and steady - Oldfloss is giving great advice!

Keep it nice and slow. Especially in the early weeks. And then slow it down even more for the rest of the program. You need to build up the stamina and fitness over time.

Enjoy.

Well done on your completed runs 👏

I understand why you were thinking to push on but you're more likely to either pick up an injury or put yourself off at this stage.

The programme really works and is as much about learning to slow down and do as you're told as it is about making you run. I thought I was too quick/fit to have to do the early runs but they are the foundation for the good stuff. It really pays off in the long run to keep it steady. If you want harder, put hills in your route, let your body adjust first.

You mention W2 tomorrow, are you ensuring a rest day between each session? These are super important to allow your muscles to heal and develop correctly.

Good luck going forward👍😁

Cool 👍😁 be interesting to think back to what made you stop... did your routine change? Out time for injury? House move? Lack of challenge? 🤔

Don’t know don’t like running, we used to do bleep tests wearing resperators and even when I start I dread the time it starts to hurt 🙈 at that time the pain involved trying to get air !! Think it’s a mental thing !!

Are you only road running? Done any trail running? I found a big internal lift off road, felt more like a kid again playing in the woods rather than an adult doing the dreaded exercise 🤣

I’ll try as only on road at the mo 👍
