Week1 -finding it hard

Hi all! I’ve just completed run two of the couch to 5k training (week 1). I have one more run left before week two. There is no way I will be able to run yet for 90 seconds, I’m just not ready. Has anyone repeated week 1 and did you eventually male a success of week 2?

Well done on starting EmTay. That's the hard bit done. I'm not far ahead of you but I found week 1 R3 impossible, so I repeated that one. And then I actually found week two easier!! There are lots of more experienced runners who will give you sensible advice. But the only thing stopping you doing it is you! Trust yourself and the system and you will do it. Good luck. 👍👍👍

Well, EmTay, C25K is hard, but not impossible! And the joyful thing is, each week prepares you for the next. I know it is hard to believe, but you have to trust the programme - it really does work.

Run super slowly, as slow as you can - speed is not the aim here - and dig deep to finish each run. This way you will build stamina.

I think I always had some doubts with every step up, but you have to try. I gasped my way through week one and surprised myself by managing week 2. It was still hard, but every week I managed the increased time. And I am no super woman! I was a 46 year old woman who had not exercised in years!

You got this. 🏃‍♀️👏😘

Hi. You may be running too fast so slow down as much as you can. I would try week two and see how you get on and if it’s too much go back a redo week one, but I’m pretty sure you will be fine to start week two. I think everyone thinks they can’t do the next week but once they start they can! Good luck. 😀

We are the same age. You will get there, the program works.

The longer you run the easier it will get. Try slowing your pace that will help, even if your run is barely faster than your walk. Lots of new runners make the mistake of running as fast as they can in the run intervals.

There is no shame in repeating weeks.

I started every week thinking ‘no way.....’

But every week ‘yes way...’

Not easy but absolutely achievable, take it steady and you may surprise yourself 🏃🏾‍♀️👍😊

Thanks everyone, feeling encouraged! I’m definately going to slow down my runs and see if it helps

Move to week 2, slow down and I bet you can do it. Trust the plan.

Well done😊 I find that giving myself more than one rest day and going at snail pace help me, keep posting for lots of support. You can do it 😊
