I haven’t posted much lately as I have just been getting out there and happily running three times a week, either 5 or 6ks, through woods, around parks and occasionally around my neighbourhood. Feeling fit and healthy and really enjoying running.
Today I mixed it up and finally tried the post-grad speed podcast. Been putting it off for ages as I thought I would find it too hard and get demoralised. But! I found it surprisingly easy! And kinda fun. So, if you have been running for a while post grad I urge you to try it and not be silly and intimidated like me. 😀
I hope you all had lovely Easters and managed to get out despite rain/snow/too many Easter eggs!

I think I will save it for mornings where I don’t have much time! I liked it, but it felt a bit too short - never ever thought I would hear myself saying that about a run! 😀
Hi Ted! I will keep everything crossed for a speedy recovery for you. I know it is frustrating, from personal experience. But running will always be waiting for you. I like the idea of Fartleks, too. It sort of reminds me of the kind of running one used to do as a kid, short bursts of exhilarating speed! I had a health check a couple of weeks ago and my doctor was very pleased with my fitness results, but reminded me that I did need to challenge myself and step things up a bit in order to keep that fitness going. So....Fartleks it is, and maybe 10k training very soon. 😀
Fartleks remind me of when I used to be walking with my daughters and also my granddaughters come to that. In order to get a lick on, I’d get them racing to this tree and that lamp post...often giving the youngest one a head start.....they loved it 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
I love the speed podcast & prob do hat once a week..I find it fun too...it’s nice & short for when time is an issue too....we’ll done you fantastic runner you!!! Inspirational as ever xxx
Thanks Mummycav 😘 I can see myself making this one of my 3 runs a week. Have you tried the stamina one? If so, any good? At the moment I cannot decide if I want to get faster or run longer! xxx
I have tried the stamina one yes...it feels much longer in comparison so I usually have extra warm up time...the music can be a bit annoying too but Laura keeps me going...try it, it’s good to have a mix up xxx
Yeah, I am not keen on Laura’s taste in music either! But it was nice to have a bit of coaching again after free-wheeling it all these months. I will try the stamina one soon. xxx
Thanks Melo. 😘 I could wax lyrical for ages on what running has changed in me. Less “niggles” now too, body getting stronger maybe? I had so many annoying minor injuries when I first started out, but fingers crossed body is coping better now. Planks every day helping I think! You are close to graduating, right? 😀😀😀
You will. And you won’t lose much fitness, so don’t worry about that. I had almost 6 weeks off with a hamstring strain in Jan, and the comeback was fine. xxx
