After the last one I was determined to slow down but I needn't have worried... the conditions were such I had no choice. I paused to take a few pics and gave much more time at gates and stiles. There was so much mud to navigate as well as a field with no exit π€£
My path went straight through the middle of a vineyard too, literally through the vines instead of round the outside.
I saw lots of rabbits but no white ones π I encountered a flock of black horned sheep with teeth showing most oddly who all ran at me then blocked the exit... evil little blighters! Just when I thought I was going to be butted by the ringleader I remembered to be loud. A few loud hand claps and a "you just better back off buddy" and the gate was mine again ππ€£π
A lot slower than I planned but there were stretches there was no choice but to walk as the mud was sliding away with every step.
5.4 miles and my Strava suffer score shows 114 "tough" so I know I still worked hard. And a lot of fun was had ππ

Sounds like quite an expedition with interesting wildlife! You're lucky to live near such varied and lovely countryside.
I'm planning to do some of the C25K+ runs (podcasts with Laura), which focus on speed and stamina (which I need to improve). Hope you're having a nice Easter. x πππββοΈ
Thanks. Yes we're very lucky, right on the south downs. It's fun to explore. We have been here for several years but it was only when we started cycling we realised what was on our doorstep.
You too!! I'm back to work tomorrow. It's been a short break but nice! π
Not far off. I did think about doing a bit more when I got back to flat ground but I'd done what I set out to do so stopped. I don't want to push too hard yet π
5.4 miles - blimey thatβs a heck of a trail run. Well done you sounds magnificent except for the scary evil sheep...
You're doing so well Jojo. I did a trail run last week, however, there was more walking than running. The slightest incline, and i'm walking. I find hills sooo difficult.
I think the number of hills I've had to get off and push my mountain bike up have helped on that frontπ
I find I lower my gaze to within a few feet in front, forget the top until you're nearly there and shorten your step to almost half your foot length if you have to. When it's really hard I use my hands on my thighs to help push myself up. ππ
Also my road run includes 2 steep hills. The more you do them the (slightly) easier they get π€ at least they hurt less!
Thank you Jojo. Iβll give those tips a go, especially not looking up to the top. I might have to listen to a Rocky soundtrack tooπ.Iβll keep you posted.
