Not Wet Wet Wet but Cold Cold Cold

Having only run twice last week after recovering from a chest infection and having a way too busy life I was up with the lark yesterday morning, resolved to get out and run inspite of the snow. I’d got my 1990s inspired playlist ready (thanks Jancanrun) and after some limited faffing to find a hat (I’ve never worn one for running before but I hate cold ears) I was ready to go.

The 5 minute walk was a challenge, and after slipping and sliding along the pavement I was in two minds whether to go home and try another day after the thaw. But having togged up and stretched it seemed a waste to just go back home. And with a bit of care I could keep of the ice by running in the fresh crunchy snow. Plus I wanted to listen to some of that not-quite-so-Retro-as-usual music.

After what seemed like a very toxic ten (my asthma is still playing up), and wheezing that didn’t help, I eventually fell into a rhythm, and was on my way.

But boy, was it cold. The wind chill combined with keeping to the snow covered grass threatened to bring out my inner gremlins, and put me off my stride. But the only option was to keep going. Stopping would have only made me even colder! So when Wet Wet Wet made an appearance on the playlist I couldn’t help but adapt it, so apologies to Reg Presley from the Troggs, but I’ve changed your lyrics. (If Bill Nighy could pull it off in Love Actually I don’t see why I can’t)
