W5R2 - Think i'm ready for the 20

Terrible rainy day here in Northern Ireland, the kind that just doesn't ease up or let off the whole day. Had to go collect my brother from school as he got out early, I decided to take a bicycle (haven't rode a bike in about 4 years) I wish I had just walked! I ended up pushing it most of the way anyway - hills on a bicycle are killer on the legs and I was soaked to the skin and miserable.

As soon as I got back in through the door I chugged a pint of water and was straight out running as my socks and shoes were soaked through and I was hardly going to put them on again later for running, may as well get it over with.

First 8 minutes was a breeze, by 1 minute into the 5 minute walk break I was fully recovered, next 8 minute run got off to a great start with me smiling and singing songs to myself (in my head not wasting breath! don't have any space on my phone for music) then as the time came up to about 7 minutes in I broke the breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth pattern and was just breathing through my mouth. wasn't sucking in air though, once I saw I only had a minute left my speed just picked up and I ran a bit longer than the 8 minute mark to cross the imaginary finish line at the steps I take out of the park.

I really need to get myself some sort of podcast to listen to for the 3rd run

Thanks for reading folks

Well done, sounds like you are enjoying yorself.

If you read the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... you will see that there is no need to breathe in through your nose, in fact the article linked from the above post suggests it is impossible to get enough oxygen in through the nose if running hard.

Just keep enjoying it.....that is the secret.
