Progress report on “Too old to run?”

About 10 weeks ago I was inspired and encouraged by members of this forum to go for it, so I did and joined a local running clubs’ mentoring group for C25K. They have been a brilliant group and we’ve stuck with the programme in every kind of weather.

Today, I got my graduation badge, and also did my first ever 5k Park run in the wind, rain and glorious mud! I am so proud of myself, ran (slowly) the whole way and wasn’t last ( I know it’s not a race but still....)

I feel I can now call myself a runner-(I won’t be doing races, apart from against myself to improve) but I would like to say how great it was to look on here and find such knowledgeable and experienced help, advice and answers to all manner of odd questions!

Anyone with doubts, please just give it a try. You could be mightily surprised at what you can achieve because I certainly didn’t think this day would ever happen after that first gruelling minute 9 weeks ago! 👍🏃‍♀️

Im a newbee. Well done to you its a fantastic achievement. I ran my first 5k in 1999 and I remember the thrill I had when I collected my medal. I raised £200 for cancer research. That was the first of many events I took part in for various cancers. And looking forwards.... I will do it again this year :-) x
