Something for the weekend

I've noticed that a number of posts ask about resting between runs and how to fit this into a busy schedule. Is there any value in running early on a Saturday and late on a Sunday and the intervening 30 hours counting as a rest day? Or is it more about having 2 sleeps between runs.

I like to space my runs out but I know some find this tricky. Mind you the lighter evenings could ease things a bit.

A rest day is a rest day. I don't think there have been any studies into the difference between a 30 hour and 48 hour gap.

Obviously the longer the gap the more time your body has to recover from the impact micro tears that you create and doing non impact exercise in that period will improve blood flow for an even better repair. Shortening the rest period reduces this effect.

I am a believer that doing non impact cross training on your rest day will make you a better runner than running on consecutive days with no cross training.

Plus, in my case, it's a purely hypothetical question, as I just Don't Do early morning runnings...
