Which is the best on Android? I'd like to start tracking routes and distance. Nothing too detailed or naggy

Strava is great

Mapmyrun does everything required. Just the free version is enough.

Runkeeper enables you to programme your own intervals, which is useful, especially after you graduate.

Endomondo has a very nice feature that picks out your fastest 1k, 3k, 5k, 10k from your run, (not just splits) which can be revealing. It also does a good job of tracking your PBs.

Just a note of annoyance and it might just be my phone. I've had Strava, map my run and runkeeper and they all lost gps signal and failed to register any distance. In desperation I've given up and am just using Google fit which seems to be ok with distance and time.

I think it is more than likely it is your phone at fault. Any app is only as good as the hardware it is running on.

I am happy Endomondo user for many years now. It's good for running, walking, hiking. Even on lost roads, middle of woods and mountains it has GPS (most of the time, ~99.9%). I like when it tells me when I got my PB as well :)

Thanks all. Will try a few out. I just want to know how far I'm going in the time (I'm v slow). I know it's the time that's important at this point but I'd like to know what my baseline is!
