A cold and rainy start this morning in Derbyshire, however W2 R1 complete ! ✅

Do any of you ever skip a rest day? I’ve ran this morning, meaning my next should be Tuesday at the earliest. I can’t run Tuesday due to other commitments and I don’t want to wait till Wednesday for my next run. Would you skip rest day on this occasion, or hold out?

Thanks 😁

Well done for finding it in yourself to brace the weather and run!

I’ve had to skip a whole week because of the snow and was worried how I would feel running this morning, but it was wonderful! It was exhilarating and felt easier than the last time I ran. I think that perhaps the rest did me good. However, I’ve felt irritable and fed up not being able to get out there, it didn’t do my mental health any good to miss two runs, but it certainly made up for it today! 😊

I’ve had the same problem. My last run was last Sunday before the snow hit! Didn’t struggle today though, and like you say, maybe the rest did me good do! I’m glad to be back out though! Xxx

You are at early stages and are asking the question we all asked.

The answer is no.

You might get away with it but when you run you create micro tears in your muscles which repair and strengthen on your rest days not while running. No rest, no repair, therefore increased injury risk.

Please read the guide to the plan for basic advice healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Your running will improve more by doing cross training on your rest days, rather than running every day.

I’m taking your advice and having a rest day. I’m going to go for a walk instead to keep me active.

Thank you guys!! Xx

Nope. They are necessary to let your body adjust. I know you're feeling eager but it would be a mistake.

The next one will be here soon! 😁
