Can’t believe I am here. Amazed at myself. Anyway now I am here I am looking at my stats more than ever. What app is best for a novice runner like myself? Just basic stuff like pace and distance etc? Thanks.

Well done you...the lovely longer runs are perfect for relaxing and letting the new running legs just take you along.

A Garmin Forerunner could be useful, and linked in with Strava gives you loads of information too :)

I use MapMyRun and my Fitbit has a tracker too which I have yet to try if you have one of those.

I have a fit bit but I don’t think it does this. I will look at mapmyrun thank you 😊

There are loads of free tracking apps available for your smartphone, which will probably give you all the data you need. They all do the basics and some have particular strengths, eg. Runkeeper allows you to programme in intervals, so you can construct your own runs and Endomondo has a really nice feature of picking out your fastest 1k, 3k, 5k from wherever it appears in a run, Strava allows you to compare your time with others who have logged the same route. The accuracy of a phone app has more to do with the phone hardware than the apps, which generally work off system data.

Fitness trackers, despite recent developments are still inherently inaccurate, unless they are using GPS to track you.

Running watches are the most accurate (but still liable to errors)

I have a basic Fitbit but I am pretty sure it doesn’t track where I run? I had a look on the App Store but got lost in all the options. Will have a wee look tho thank you
