So having got over my knee niggle I was looking forward to some lovely half term runs (last week). Alternatively ended up I A&E at the beginning of the week with rapid and irregular heart beat and screamingly high blood pressure. Was eventually sent home when it was decided I wasn't having a stroke or heart attack! At the doctors the next day (with heart feeling back to normal) I asked if I could go running- she said yes so long as I stopped if I felt unwell.
Went out with 'Laura' and the security of the stepping stone podcast and managed three good 5k runs last week with no untoward effects - they were the highlight of a rubbish half term.
This week all tests (and there were many!) look to be normal so I am expecting a lecture from my doctor about stress when I go back on Monday. However more aggravating for me was return of knee pain as soon as I put heeled work shoes on on Monday. Knee has niggled again all week but is much improved from avoiding heels.
Have promised myself a trip to running shop tomorrow to check out advice around my running shoes (though knees don't hurt when I run!) and hope knees might behave enough to get in a run over the weekend.
Frustrated runner wishing you all happy healthy running this weekend!

Thanks Jan - it was scary at the time but I'm more chilled about it now. Every doctor I've spoken to has encouraged me to keep running as it's beneficial. So as soon as the knees up to it I'll be out there again.
Stress is a real issue... the way our body and mind responds to it, is frankly, terrifying...Listen to your doctors but use the running as a healing aid too...
Take it steady and slow.... roll with the bad days and revel in the good days... you are going to do this... and we will be there to help
Thanks Oldfloss. Running has made such a positive difference to the way I manage work stress. I love the head space it gives me and I never thought I'd see running as me time - but I do.
Hoping the knee holds up - trying to find a good sports physio at the moment.
Many of us do.... we realise that running is about so much more than the runs My Black Dog hates me running.... although he does try to catch me sometimes
I hope you don't get a lecture, hardly helpful... although sometimes people do need, erm, 'firm permission' to get rid of unhelpful or downright noxious things in their lives. I am always wary of 'stress' being code for 'go away' without ongoing support.
Bravo on your runs... the fuss and bother of lots of tests and appointments can be so exhausting in itself.
