I am not a runner.... YET! My wife and I have just completed our first park run/walk at the new Great Denham event. So a first for us and a first for Great Denham. We are older than most I suppose with me at 66 and her at 64.

We are perhaps doing it the wrong way round as we have downloaded the C25K app but haven't started it yet. Both our son and daughter and our sons partner are runners. They do Park Runs and half marathons. Our son and his partner have booked their first marathon.

But I digress! We are very unfit so decided enough was enough. At Great Denham, we were not quite las. My time was 40:49 and my good lady who is a desk jockey did 45:09. We are dead chuffed at that result. So we have decided to get three weeks worth of C25K under our belts before we do another run. Lest see if we hold to that or get seduced into trying another sooner!

Those are keen times for somebody walking parkrun!! Well done. My first parkrun at age 67 was week 1 Day 2 of C25k. I did everything that I had to do - the 5 minute warmup and cooldown walks , the 20 minutes of run/walk intervals. Of course I didn't get to 5k over that 30 minutes so I just bimbled along to the finish :) That was 4years , 122 parkruns and about 3500 klms ago!!

Bimbling sounds a great way of progressing 😁

My definition of "bimbling" is getting to the finish line - in some way or another!! :)

Well done to both of you 👏, I love parkrun, best invention ever, a very good habit to have....out in the fresh air, happy people, new friends, what’s not to like....

Keep slow and steady, you’ve got each other to keep you going, good luck with the plan, remember it’s a guide, repeat weeks or take extra rest days if you need them.

Welcome to this fabulous hobby/pastime/obsession 😉🏃‍♀️.....

Hello Pete and Mrs Pete.

If you wish to run a parkrun this is the perfect programme for you. Slow and steady will get you there! 😀

You will find this program wonderful. Don’t stress about times at this stage, because the C25K is all about being able to run for 30 mins without stopping. Speed will come later, if you want it too 😄

Hiya, I've just applied for Park runs in Bedford, so might see you both there in a few weeks time (about to start week 6).
