So on Friday I completed W5r3 ran for 20 mins. Saturday I went for an 8 mike walk with the family. By Monday my motivation has gone missed my run and today felt like that I wasn’t capable of w6r1 even though I completed it. Does anyone else loose motivation after a weekend off?

Hi Bevanne21

Its really easy to lose the momentum during the plan and I got almost obsessive about having the runs scheduled in. Even now 6 months post graduation I rely on ‘fake’ reminders from Mr Smooth (Michael Johnson) telling me to go out and run.

I have my kit ready the night before, so that it winks at me every time I pass it. I tell my family when I’m running, so I get asked when am I actually going out. All of these things I do to make sure I go. And I actually love my running, but it’s easy to lose the habit. So I don’t let myself lose it.

Sometimes though a well earned rest is lovely... So don’t be hard on yourself for feeling this way, just remember what your reasons are for doing the plan. That always worked for me. And let’s be honest it wasn’t as if you sat on the sofa ll day you went for an 8 mile walk!

Good luck next time out and happy running
