Any advice for my poor shins?!

I haven't I'm afraid as I haven't had them, what I would say is definitely take a rest day between every run, maybe 2 depending on your level of fitness, on non run days try to do non impact exercise (I made a big step forward when I got an exercise bike and started doing 30 mins on non run days) and buy proper running gear, especially trainers 🏃‍♂️

Massage roller. The relief follows after a bit of added painful massage. But it works. I couldn't believe shins had that much in them to hurt!

This is the one I use but there are loads out there. It cost 8.99 inc shopping

Yes I'll invest in some 'proper' trainers soon! I have some year old karrimors at the moment but have always been reluctant to splash out in case I'm just off on a 'whim'! 4 runs down is the most I've done in many years so I'm hopeful! Thank you for the advice!

It's very addictive and life changing, once you get into longer runs you really start getting into it!!! 😁

Alternatively if you treat yourself to some lovely shoes you’ll have to keep going out to price they were worth it...! ;)

I've just completed this run too. After wk1r3 I was dreading it but wasn't as bad as I expected. I did dynamics before the warmup walk and it definitely delayed the aches this time 👍

Dynamics? Are they particular stretches or something? Sorry 🙈

Yes. There is a link on the guideline information. I really suffered on my 3rd run with aches and pains and a few members on here gave me the advice to do these before running.

The hardest part sometimes is just doing it. Once out there it's always worth it! Go you! 👍😁
