Hi, I graduated C25K just before Christmas. I've found it difficult to keep my runs regular since. Christmas obviously got in the way, but I seem to have lost my 'mojo'. I think I've also lost my confidence. When I finished the C25K my pace was 8.5km average including the warm up and down so a long way off 5k in 30mins. Proud I graduated but I was frus tarted that I was so slow. I then wanted to get faster and tried some intervals and then seemed to lose my routine. I get stitch a lot! I don't go out within at least 2hours of eating which is hard to schedule in with school runs. I'm also nearly 49 so not finding it quite as easy as I might have done a few years ago.
Any ideas what I should do to try and get on track. I wouldn't be able to run for 30 mins now. I know I need to be more patient.

Why the obsession with speed? Just think how good you felt on the programne... surely it's the feel good factor you want, the numbers are just a by product.
Stitches in my experience are purely about getting your breathing right. Slow down and work on your breathing instead. When you can get out more without getting a stitch you'll get the feel good back 👍😁
My advice would be forget about time, speed all that jazz if you want to find your mojo. Find the love for just running and consolidate your 30 min runs. You have all the time in the world to get your speed up/ distance etc... if you have to... once you’ve got to grips with running 30 mins comfortably.
You might have to slow down even before you start to get faster later on if you want. I did when I graduated in July and now I can run 10k in a reasonable time (not super fast but not super slow) but it’s maybe taken me a few months more than others. But I still got there, my way.
And that’s what it’s all about our own journey... but we have to find the love... and that means perhaps not chasing times and kms. Good luck.
Hello Flash, take all the pressure off yourself regarding distance and pace.
Next run, just try doing a 20 min non-stop run at a steady gentle pace and be pleased with that...next time try a few extra minutes. Its your running journey, and having done all that work to get to graduation you know you can do it😊
Better weather, lighter evenings are coming. Gentle runs will get you back on track.
Maybe take a look at the c25k + podcasts for some structure. Laura is the trainer on there.
Not an expert but if I was getting a stitch I would slow down. Definitely give the C25K+ podcasts a go. Have a plan. If you think you might not be able to still run for 30 minutes then how about deciding that you will slow to a brisk walk for 60 seconds then start running again. After all you know the system works.
Thank you. Pressure off. I need to slow down and build back up to the 30mins. Then I'll give the c25k+ a go.
Hi Flash, why not just go out and see how long you can go for, without aiming for a specific speed. the one thing I can remember so clearly was wondering why I couldn't go faster, and it takes a lot of time. If you're aiming to do distance, you can't do speed at the same time.
Be kind to yourself go for a nice slow 20 minutes run. See how you feel and how much recovery time you need and then you've got a new benchmark to start with.
Thank you. The last week I've taken the pressure off and just going out and running and stopping when I need to. Just need to slow right down and build back up to the 30mins.
