I am a big fan of Aqua jogging and aqua aerobics actually. My girlfriend is disabled and can not do any kind of running or walking or weight bearing activity but in the semi weightlessness of the pool is able to workout to her heart's content. i have gone along a few times and found it good fun but also quite sufficiently challenging to get a positive fitness benefit. Ideal way to keep fitness levels up while rehabbing injury.
One of my dogs also did a course of canine aqua aerobics last year when she was recovering from a cruciate ligament operation and it made a world of difference to her spirits when she couldn't go out for walks.
Aww that's amazing! My sister has a terrible back injury, and has gained a lot of weight through not being able to exercise. I wonder if this would work for her as it has for your girlfriend?
Yes I'm thinking of using it on non-run days to sort of get more miles in without actually risking injury, but I found it interesting that the article cited a lady who found her 5K time didn't deplete while on the IC by using aqua jogging.
I did it in the sea! Very good physio 💪👍🙂
I had to do water walking some years ago following a leg injury. It's a huge help. Once the life guards stopped asking me if I was OK that is! 😂 it was more obvious when I was out of the water with one skinny little leg and one normal. It did the trick though!
