Just completed this run OK but I'm finding that after only 3-4 minutes I can feel the strain in my legs, which is a bit disappointing as in the first minute or two I feel as if I could (and would love to!) go bounding off at a great pace, though of course I don't. As I warm up things seem to get easier and it's not at all bad at the end of the 25 minutes. I just wonder when, or if ever, I get to the point where I feel I can just sail along, appearing effortless, as some of the club runners do who come past my house?

You have a few hours of running on your legs, don't expect miracles and don't compare yourself to people who have been running for years.
Keep your running regular and slowly and steadily the strength will come and it will get easier.

It would be great to get to the end and feel I could run comfortably for 30 minutes.
