Our plan to go jogging on grass rather failed today with the thoroughly uninspiring weather. Instead we gaupped at trainers and wife bought a pair of mildly trail ones and I (who have been using mildly trail ones so far) got a pair of road ones.
So we did the usual road route this evening. Started off walking a bit faster and concentrating on our form (lots of youtube hints picked up yesterday) we picked up pace too, but that inevitably meant that by the last few jogging sessions we were pretty worn out.
Next time perhaps we won't try and concentrate on form but on pace. Haven't looked at what w3 has in store for us quite yet...we will peak as soon as I hit post!

No need to up the pace, slow and steady is best. The program naturally progresses, all you need to do is successfully complete each session to be ready for the next run.
Thanks! I know, but we were feeling a little bit too comfy at the end of r2...we knew we could do a little better - should have saved it for the end maybe though. We have now looked at w3 and we are going to have to be slow to get through 3 mins!
You won't run better by running fast, but you could run out of steam. You would be better to go slower to start and find you have enough in the tank to push yourself a bit for the last one or two runs. Better then struggling through the last one or two.
It's a good habit to learn. It is hard to go slow at the beginning when you are fresh, but it does pay dividends in the long-run (in both senses of the word).
Thanks for the advice! We will try - we were kind of concentrating on other things but I am sure we will get it right eventually. w3 is more of a challenge given the 3min legs are repeated middle and end so seems a bit tricky to us and we will have to take it slow!
I was told lots of steps per minute but only at a half step so like a very light slow jog with feet moving lots. 123, 123 pace. so slow and steady! x well done you both x
Thanks, We are trying to keep the pace down! And we weren't going fast exactly! Just faster than usual as we weren't concentrating on being slow...just goes to show it is something we need to concentrate on!
