👊 job done. Had the pleasure of a speedy Boston terrier, sunshine and new terrain - Beacon Park, Lichfield a brilliant distraction for my 20 min run. Breathing fine, limbs fine just sore in back so may give it 2 days to settle but... woo hoooo! That’s the speedy one on the right and my Mum and slow JRussel on left 😆

Wk5 R3 is amazing isn't it? Well done 😊

I love running in new places too - it's a great distraction. I wish you running joy in Week 6 - it's a mental game from now on so just enjoy it!

You’re so right it really is 80% mental and then following the plan and good advice with the rest and recuperation. Taken me 20 years to work out that you can’t run through back pain - but the 1/2 days rest seems to be working so far 😊

Thank you Liz from Liz 😆 it really is getting the pace right - and the only pace is your own pace! I know I’ll have some aches and pains but with 2 days of walking I’ll be good to go on Wednesday. And now lights improving I’ll be able to go after work 👍

Well done you and well done that Boston. That’s a lot of running for a little dog. My Frenchie couldn’t manage anywhere near that time.

I know, great company still didn’t run the legs off her and without a lead which is lovely 🐶

ahh, such a picturesque scene with a bit of sun rays on the Church!! sigh... I miss that kind of lovely English small town scenery. Well done for the run with the dogs! If you have a lower back problem, make sure you have cushioned shoes and don't hesitate to rest for 2 or 3 days in-between, stretching on rest days (static and dynamic). I've had a lot of trouble with my back and the programme is really made for us: to my surprise (all my previous attempts to running had ended dramatically with my back blocked and the impossibility for me to walk for 3 or 4 days), I gradually developed my back muscles in another way but I make sure I run with a very straight posture, shoulders relaxed as much as possible, and landing as lightly as possible on my feet.

*cough* cathedral 🤣 you’re absolutely right - I will be buying new shoes this week now I’m up to the longer runs. Like you I have tried and failed before and assumed that I would never manage a 5k again and would only be able to cycle. But as you say this is designed for creaking gates and shows what you can do if you follow the programme and take onboard the great advice 😘

I think this last one in wk5 is a bit mind over matter - so just think positively and you’ll smash it - let’s see how we get on in wk6 🤞
