Going backwards?

I have kept up with my runs since finishing the programme which have been hard due to the weather, I thought. When I was unable to complete the time I put it down to that, but today I was looking forward to running in the best weather for weeks. I don't know if it was physical or mental difficulties but I only seemed to be able to run about 15 minutes before I felt I couldn't manage any more and continued brisk walking.. I feel very discouraged and how I was afraid I would feel if I didn't complete the programme. I don't want to give up and if it means going back to earlier weeks on the programme so be it.

Sometimes it happens. Could be lack of fuel, hydration low. Maybe you have a bug in your system. Maybe you just didn't feel like it.

No reason to worry, try again in a couple of days time :)

Thank you for your support. I have found a lot of comments from 4 years ago which are very helpful too.

Go out and run sixteen minutes next time. It will build back up.

It happens Pam. But as a graduate you can now take a few minutes walk break and run some more if you want to. I often do this, and then on other days I just run, no walk breaks, because thats what I feel like on the day. Every run builds your legs and stamina so just go out there and enjoy!

You know that you can run for 30 minutes because you did it at least three times, probably more. Bad weather will only really affect you mentally rather than physically (to a degree).

You are allowed to do shorter runs. You can do whatever you like. It's all good training. Doing more run/walk is good. Some people run whole marathons that way. Picking an earlier C25K week is not going backwards; it's just picking a training plan that suits you at the time.

Most of all, have you tried going slower. I am now at an all time slow (to paraphrase Bowie). I am much slower than my graduation pace, and that was slower than my Week 1 (running section) pace.

Do not be discouraged. It will get better. Trust me, I'm a Loris.

Slow down maybe?

It happens sometimes, and we may never know why...just put it down to another experience and make sure, hydrated and rested, when you head out again..you take it slow and steady:)
