I'm not as excited as I expected to be. I went out this morning in the worst weather I have experienced apart from when it snowed. Rain was pelting down driven by a strong horizontal wind which I mostly was trying to run into. Consequently I ran perhaps half of the route, although I continued to walk as hard as possible.I came home literally soaked to the skin! I wish the last official run of the programme had been like my last one , but I am going to continue running 30 minutes 3 times a week until it gets easier and then join the local parkrun. I did not have high expectations of what I could achieve, which is why I kept quiet about it until recently. I can honestly say that as well as improving my stamina and health which it must have done, running and completing this programme has improved my mental health, My self-esteem has grown and I feel proud about completing the programme. I describe myself in ways I never have previously. I don't think of myself as being nonsporty or hopeless at sport, particularly at my age 63. It is opening up new horizons and friendships. I feel humble to be described as an inspiration by several people I know so thank you to all the people on the forum who have contributed supportive and helpful remarks on this journey so far. I really appreciate it.
Yippee I graduated today. : I'm not as excited... - Couch to 5K
Yippee I graduated today.
Congratulations...I think you deserve an extra medal for braving this morning's weather...I waited until it cleared up.
Very well done!! 😀👏🏃♀️🎓
Youve graduated, that’s a huge achievement, especially with the weather conditions you had thrown at you. I think you should be really proud!
Congratulations p1M213🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Well done on getting out despite that lashing rain and Graduating😊x
The plan really does boost your self esteem and confidence doesn't it. You are right to feel proud, there are not many 63 year olds able to be out there running for 30 mins..
Well done.
Be proud of your achievements and your plan is spot on for the immediate future.
Keep running, keep smiling.
Well done, and what a fabulous post. Here's to plenty more happy running in the future!
it'll sink in - but what you have described as the effects of the programme in transforming how you think of yourself will, I believe, lift you every time you even think of running. Congrats, graduate!
- oh - and the WEATHER! Kudos for doing the run in that!
Thank you all for your wonderful remarks !x
