Restless Legs

Hi All, just wondering if you have any tips for restless legs? I run at night after the twins have made it through their nightly routine however after the last two runs I’ve found that my legs are really restless at bed time. Do any of you have any advice or tips to prevent or relieve this? For your information I also struggle with an intermittent poplitius (muscle behind the knee) problem where it randomly tenses and causes knee pain. Your thoughts/comments would be hugely appreciated.

Ooh, I remember getting this at night. I think having a bath afterwards helped, or maybe a hot water bottle. You will probably find it goes away on it's on though as your legs get used to running and you develop a regular running routine.

Hi ‘Badrunner’ (which I’m sure you’re not!). I suffered badly with this and drove me crackers and, touch wood, I haven’t had restless legs since July last year. You’re going to think I’m mad, but it works, place a brand new bar of soap under your sheet in your bed near your legs. I use Imperial Leather, and it flippin’ works. Google it, and hopefully you’ll see that I’m not completely bonkers! Good luck 😉

My other half used to getbit badly & doesnt drink caffiene in the evening...that seemed to help

How strange. i get it when tired, have been plagued with it all my life since adolescence, but it isn't as bad since running. I've also noticed that random things can set it off, like pain in my leg, an itch etc. i wish i could solve it for you but absolutely no idea. if you find out, tell me...please...

If you take baths, put epsom salts in. Otherwise I highly recommend a magnesium spray, which worked wonders for me as before I just couldn't sleep!

This is what I use:

Thanks I will definitely look into that! I’ve had magnesium deficiencies before so that makes sense.

I take one magnesium tablet ( 375mg ) tablet every night before I go to bed . It seems to do the trick for me .

I hope you can find a solution that works for you xxx
